I'm feeling a sense of loss that the shelter is gone, but glad the people have moved on. I'm missing the camaradare of the fire dudes, the police guys, the office staff, the red cross across the foyer, and it's only an hour into what i would have been doing had i needed to go in to day ( Read more... )

Sadly the trucks from the rabbi did not arrive today. Fortunately another lady sent a box of new tshirts to the residents who were getting plenty of used clothing donations, but it's nice to get a new shirt. Humorously enough to me they were daytona beach bike week shirts ( Read more... )

I've been given the task today (saturday) to find a company or person who can donate an event tent that we can have air conditioned so the groups who are calling to give free concerts etc to the people in the shelter have a place to play ( Read more... )

The director of the shelter moved the searching of bags by the cops with metal detectors further into the building. This stops clogging at the entrance. Not likely there will be trouble, however, now any crazy gun totting idiot can shoot all of the volunteers up front- those with the phones at the front door at least have a table ( Read more... )
